Milk and Cookies Amaryllis Flower Care

Milk and Cookies Amaryllis features 5 stems of white amaryllis and Best Shortbread By Jess, in support of SickKids. Rest assured that they're the freshest stems around!

Best known for their long stems and trumpet-like blooms, amaryllis are the quintessential holiday flower as they grow locally throughout November and December.

Amaryllis arrive in closed buds as they are fresh from the grower, meaning you will be able to enjoy their beauty as they open over the coming days. Watching them bloom is part of the fun! If you need them open for an event, we recommend ordering 4-5 days in advance.

See our recommended instructions below to best care for your amaryllis.

To maximize the life of your amaryllis:

  • Unwrap your flowers and remove the hydration pack.
  • Fill a clean vase with room temperature water and stir in a sprinkle of the provided flower food. Hang onto the package for future waterings.
  • Trim the stems for best water absorption (a sharp knife will slice through the hollow stems better than scissors), remove the tie and place the flowers in the vase.
  • Change / add fresh water daily, adding a sprinkle of flower food each time to prolong the life of your blooms.
  • Keep the flowers in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Guard petals (the dry whiteish outer petals) on the amaryllis are intentionally left on as they protect the bloom during transit. As the amaryllis bloom, these petals will naturally peel back and hang. feel free to gently remove them, if you wish.
  • The base of the stems will naturally start to curl after a few days in water - this is normal and the flowers will still open beautifully.
  • Some flowers will bloom faster than others and at different times. Remove stems as they expire to keep the others blooming bright!
